Another Long Distance Call

Posted on Fri May 25th, 2018 @ 11:33am by Colonel Adam Stone & Brigadier General Katana Leah

Mission: S2E1: Ponzi Scheme
Location: USS Cairo - Ready Room
Timeline: January 27, 2389; 1100h -MD2

Leah stood up and looked at Felicia letting her know that she had the bridge for awhile and then she walked to her ready room. She was missing her husband, so she decided to call him. She sat down at her desk and tapped a few commands and placed the call to the USS Devonshire to Colonel Stone and waiting for him to answer.

Adam was reading over the reports from the previous shift of patrols on the various ship hulls and from the station itself. It seemed that hope was a double-edged sword. When the people were depressed and tired they didn't fight much. As things looked to be improving, albeit slowly, tempers began to flare. Incidents on the station were beginning to rise, but nothing serious had occurred yet.

Hearing a chime from his terminal, he set down the Padd he was reading and checked the codes of the caller. Brigadier now was it? That took long enough!

"You never were happy being the same rank as me, dear." He said with a smile as the call connected. "Congratulations."

Leah chuckled, "You know I have to be one step ahead of my dear," Leah said with a smile. "We're on our way to Risa, should arrive there tomorrow mid-morning," Leah added as she looked at her love.

"Well that's good, we're making some slow progress here. Putting a shipyard back together again does not work overnight." He said with a small smile of his own.

"That sounds like fun," Leah said with a smile. "Oh, how I miss you, my love, what I wouldn't do to hold you." She said with a sigh, she hated being so far away from him not being able to sense when he was there.

"Join the club love, join the club." Adam agreed with a nod. "At least you only have me to miss, I have to miss you and Junior."

"I know, he misses his daddy too," Leah stated as she looked at him. "Just wish you could come home," Leah said though that was easier said than done these days.

"Yeah well, we signed up for this life. Feels like it was three or four lifetimes ago some days." He said with a sigh. "There are times I think retirement sounds better and better."

She nodded, "But we all know that won't happen we are just too committed to our jobs love." Leah said as she looked at him, "I love you with all my heart you are my life, Adam." Leah stated with a sparkle in her eyes with how much she loved her husband.

"I know." He said with a simple smile as he teased her.

She shook her head, "you were always short and sweet with your answer love." Leah said then laughed. "So, what else is new?" Leah asked looking at him.

"Besides the date on the mound of paperwork on my desk?" He asked with a snort. "Understaffed and underpaid as always."

She laughed as she knew that feeling all too well, "I know how that is." Leah stated, "you can always come here and still have mounds of paperwork, but have a great pay." She said with a wink to see if he get the reference as she smiled.

"Oh, I've applied for that transfer more than once." Adam chuckled with a smile. "So far Personnel is ignoring me."

"I know how that is, maybe I can pull some strings if needed when this mission is over." She said with a smile as she looked at him.

"Don't tease me." He said with a wink and a smirk. Of course, depending on the tease he might not care if she did!

She laughed, "oh but I am my love." Leah said as she winked back with a grin.

"Could be better." He teased back. "Your uniform is still on." He said with a wolfish grin flitting across his features.

"You will just have to come here now won't you," Leah teased back with a smile.

"Working on it babe, working on it." He said with a laugh. "Transfer requests went out, but no-ones telling me anything yet."

She nodded then looked at the time, "Well love I have to get going work is calling my name." Leah said with a sigh. "I love you and hopefully will see you soon."

"I love you too Leah. I'll see you when I see you. Hopefully it's sooner rather than later." He said with a small smile. "Don't work too hard babe." He teased her lightly as he pressed the button to close the channel.
